Our Unique Innovative Approach
Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention
The Intervention Team has developed its own unique and innovative approach to substance abuse and addiction intervention. The Intervention Team utilizes what is known as the Dualistic Approach in its intervention methods. The Dualistic Approach requires two interventionists actively participate in the intervention. We also utilize various strategies for crisis intervention and prevention in the preparation of the intervention. The ultimate goal of the Dualistic Approach is to deliver twice the skills and expertise needed to help the intervention be a success. At all times, one interventionist will be there to focus on the family and the other the addict. Should the interventionist want to speak with the addict alone, one interventionist will remain with the family to prevent the family from becoming emotionally upset and leaving them without any direction.
The Dualistic Approach is different from other models in that it delicately blends the positives of other approaches while eliminating the drawbacks to form its own approach. The Dualistic Approach doesn’t attack the addict or focus only on the addict. The Dualistic Approach also does not focus the majority of its attention on the family or ignore the family dynamics either. The Dualistic Approach empowers the family and the addict by emphasizing on the strengths of every individual. It is a delicate and yet powerful combination of the family strengths and the addicts strengths that form the Dualistic Approach.
The Intervention Team is Cost Effective
Even though The Intervention Team utilizes TWO interventionists, we are still one of the most cost effective intervention services in the nation. What some families are spending monthly to enable the addict in the form of paying rent, food, bills, etc., will more than pay for a professional intervention by The Intervention Team. Moreover, interventions with drug clients are cost effective because when you compound the addict’s medical expenses, paying for the addict’s rent, bills, etc., and then paying for the addict’s funeral or permanent medical expenses that resulted from the addiction, it only makes sense to try an intervention. An intervention will give the addict the opportunity to heal and become productive once more with society. Without an intervention, the addict will be a strain on the family finances as well as the emotional ties that are formed. With an intervention, the family is providing the means to allow the addict the opportunity to contribute to the family by helping him or herself.
